according to the article, they are releasing it on the extreme processor series so we can expect a hefty price for it (£600+), at least it's on 1366 socket...

They deceded 6 months ago to drop the I9 branding for the Gulftown CPU. It will be Intel Core i7 980X
The price will be 999.99+
It overclocks like a fucking champ and my god it eats through anything you throw at it. There have been a few that have been sold on ebay. They were Engineering Samples however.
Here is some pics of them in the wild.
The Above is on a i7 965 EE CPU Fan, the 980X has a tower style heatpipe cooler. Pretty impressive for less than factory air cooling.
There is more here.

Chip is already over 5GHz and its not even for sale. A general rule of thumb, when intel releases a architecture the 2nd wave overclocks better, runs cooler and is factory clocked higher. For example. The first wave chip the 45nm i7 920 is 2.66GHz. The replacement second wave 32nm i7 930 is clocked at 2.83GHz. The 930 runs cooler and overclocks better. This is consistant accross the board
920->930
940->950->960
965->975
I have a system speced out for this already. :D
CPU is absent because im waiting for it to come out. Same for the Graphics cards. Waiting on the new GeForce cards before i pick them out.

Yup, it does :)
Bought it a month ago thinking that it would suffer but the processor and overclocked GTX275 eat it up for breakfast lol
