I was wanting to know if anybody was getting this and what you thought of the game from vids,beta,other people talking about it. It looks promising so far from videos I watched and I would not mind trying out a demo to see if i like it, if they release one. I just don't know how well my pc will run it. :)

I'm gonna get it, it does look promising and the reviews so far (apart from the nubs who seem to think a beta is the finished product!) have been very positive. Besides, we all know what to expect from the Battlefield series so they'll have it spot on when released i hope! :)

Im looking forward to it. After the epic fail of MW2 not having dedicated servers,...*RAWR, just STUPID! But that's my opinion. I have watched a few videos here and there. This game is what wm2 should of been. It looks better than mw2, and with the ability to actually get inside vehicles,aircraft *hence just like BF2. Just maybe,.. Flounder might give a look at it,.. :) Is a game on meh, "next to get" list.. *kicks self in own ass for getting mw2. RAWR!

i didnt care for crysis at all

i did indeed get bad company though and i like it. it's different from battlefield 2. the shooting different and it is a faster pace game it seems. though the medic gun is still the best :D

ya i actually hit it up on my ps3 instead of the pc for a change. IT actually works very well on the console.

The game itself is sick and has great fuckin sound to it.

Explosions, and demolishing building is just addicting :)

i started to play the single play mode this morning. i might like it better than the multiplayer mode. lol. just i was sorta expecting it to be more like BF2, and it's so way different. And to compare it to MW2, play seems slower, but action is better.

I have said this many times on vent but I figured I would post it here.

I will be getting Battlefield Bad Company 2 soon. My current PC is getting extremely outdated and I am getting ready to build a new one. I have said In vent that as soon as I build the new one I will get the game. I was about to build a new PC a couple weeks ago when some unrelated health issues came up. I am back and healthy but my gaming desire at this time is diminished but coming back so the new PC build is in stall at the moment.

This is how to get Bad Company 2 for $20:

Go to the EA website and add Bad Company 2 to your cart (for $40). When you get to the place that asks you to apply a Promo code add the code "PAXEAST842" without the quotes. Then voilà, the price is now $19.95 + Tax. Enjoy! I'm getting it for $20 today and then downloading it tomorrow once i get my PC. the first $10 off expires today though so get it today!!!

Oh and to make it an even better deal for no tax, if your doing the digital download, you can use somebody who lives in a tax free state and not pay taxes since there is no shipping charge. The only thing is you have to use paypal to avoid the whole billing address problem.

This isn't a great deal actually... I think direct2drive has it for $25 but keep looking at steam throughout the week they are suppose to be having a sale of sequel type games throughout the week. Yesterday was Crysis, today is Battlefield, and I'll get the list of games for sale a bit later.

Just came across this vid showing some gameplay of Bad Company2 Vietnam.Decided to post it in this thread since its downloadable content/addon for bad company instead of making a new thread. I see that the vid is from September but thought I would post it for others like myself who have not seen it. First time i noticed a price also, it's apparently going to be around $15.

I want a release date! Guess they learned their lesson after they messed up on the early patches.

And I don't know if we'll be getting the expansion pack right away. I think we'll wait for reviews.

There's also a map pack in the works. They will release 4 new multiplayer maps, which are as follows:

Server Ping:

Is not the ping its latency I was talking to coolhair about this because I have always noticed this too. I would join a server in New York and look at the ping and it would say like 100 or more. It turns out that what is displayed in game is not ping.

This is from EA's website:

"High pings even on local game servers. We're actually showing game latency instead of ping.

This is basically how far behind the client is compared to the server. We try to keep the server a small portion in front of the clients so they in most cases can use replicated data until they get the next ghost update from the server. If they get a lag spike they will start predicting the state when they run out of information, however, the basic idea is to smooth out the experience compared to everything having to be corrected when the predictions are slightly off."

In researching I found that a few people said 150 is considered average so compared to ping I guess a 150 latency would be similar to a 50 ping.
If you want to see the actual ping to the server you will need to look at the server in the server browser. Once in game it shows latency.

I did not buy the base game through Steam... I have a retail copy. When I tried to purchase Vietnam, it gave me some error about not having BC2. So I went over to EA store and saw that it's still $15 over there.

I contacted EA support using the "chat now" feature, which took maybe 10 minutes or so. I explained my situation while remaining polite, and he ended up giving me a redeemable code for the EA store worth $15... thus giving me a free copy of BC2: Vietnam!

I activated my code and successfully played on a Vietnam server, and all this cost $0 and 10 minutes' time.

Just thought I'd share this with you... if you're in a similar situation, I suggest you try it out! :)

I, as also Shangus Kahn, has the Vietnam pack. I dig it. And Shangus seems to like it well. I just now saw you(Ash), had it also. We must get on and play it sometime. I think Coolhair would like it. Cuz of his mad sniping skillz. It's a bit different than BC2, but it's because its set in Vietnam war. (duh) I haven't played it in a few days, but I will definitely hit here when I have some free time. :nw
