Update Part I - Forum Layout

The first thing I took care of was the forum layout. We had a massive amount of forums. Many of them were redundant, unused, and/or unnecessary. Look at the forums to see the changes. Everything's basically just more organized and whatnot. :)

didnt gain anything, i used to have access to the media section. Dont matter much though as no one ever posted in there.

Next we need a joke section and possibly a youtube section. Members are always posting youtube links but we don't have anywhere organized for them. They end up everywhere.

Then when are getting our main page fixed? Umm that's been in limbo land for 6 months.

The threads have been moved to RS chat. Jokes/youtube/all/whatever/bleh can go in either that one or the public chat. We don't need a whole different category for say... 10 threads?

I'm implementing the updates in parts. Since I'm never too sure how long I'm going to be on the computer, I don't want to start a big part until I'm sure I have the time and willpower to finish it. I went for a simple task today, which was restructuring the forums a little bit, and even then I had to go MIA and have the site locked down for half the day.

The bigger updates are going to be done behind the scenes so it will be just a good click or so to go live. the front page is a different story, I'll take care of that in a little bit after I do some research on any other ways to improve and/or change the front page.

I vote to remove the Talk to Lurk section its just taking up to much space and is quite frankly useless. Can we make a media section that would be great to put all our vacation photos/crap we find on the internet because no one uses that Photo Gallery except for Toast Rev and Lurk.

I will be removing the gallery. You can post pics and crap in the general chat section. If there's enough activity I suppose we can use a media section. But I really saw no purpose for one.

That section had individual access turned on for members. if you combined it with some other section you need to double check the access. Chemo if your on tonight I'll check that with you.

Do we have a space problem? Used or not is it causing some unknown lag on our server? Why just delete it? If its not hurting anything leave it there and take the time deleting it would take and fix the main page. Or should I start making a custom home page?

It's a simple task of removing scripting and configuration. I'm not removing the image directory for obvious reasons.

There's an upcoming software update. There would be more time used to update the gallery to comply with the newer code rather than scrapping it.

I'm still awaiting an update to software for the front page. There's a major release coming up. I rather work on one update instead of updating it once and then having to put out a bigger update with the newer version. Basically double updates.

OK, there EcS/RS section has DIED since CoD4 happened.... I can just use your lovely forums for anything else, so I won't be all asshurt if ya remove it... I will still love you guys. Plus I just ramble spam anymore anyhow :) I wish you guys would play CoD with me, 4 and 5!!!!! xfire rrk9005

If you are talking about the CMS it literally takes 2-3 minutes to update it. They just released a new version anyways. Updating this website should take like 5 minutes. Thats what i took to do mine. :confused:

I know this is taking longer than anyone wants it to. I'm waiting for a major software update that will change the entire functionality of the site. I'm not going to put out a big update only to find out I have to redo everything again in a month.
