Since I put up a thread for the parts I'm selling, I though I'd go ahead and put up what I think I am going to buy. Fist off, most of you know my parents are getting divorced so it's hard to be in one place and lug around a massive computer too. A shuttle will help me with that and most of the barebone shuttle computers you can get nowadays won't be outdated for a few years. A shuttle computer would also be perfect for me because now I can start up a DJ thing with my music, playing live shows. Glenn, if anybody, probably knows what I'm talking about. Anyway, here are the parts I'm thinking about getting.

Shuttle/Case: Newegg.com - Shuttle SG31G2 Intel Socket T(LGA775) Intel G31 2 x 240Pin Intel GMA 3100 256bit 3D engine with a powerful 400MHz core and DirectX 9.0 glamor small form factor Black XPC Barebone - Barebone Systems. (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16856101039) Ignore the stuff it tells you about graphics. We all know On-board GPUs suck. :)

CPU: Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - CPUs / Processors. (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16819115017)

RAM: Newegg.com - mushkin 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory. (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820146118) (getting 2 of them, 4 gigs)

HD: Newegg.com - SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives. (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822152052)

I was originaly going to get Corsair ram, but I'm not sure the MoBo on the shuttle would like me changing the voltage to 2.0. Tell me your thoughts. I have a 9600 GT which I will probably use as a video card. All the components together comes out to something like 650 w/o shipping and handling. I'm keeping my Monitor for now but I will probably upgrade it sooner or later to a 26 or 28 inch beast. (or just get a 48 inch TV and HDMI)

If you guys know anything about shuttles I want to hear about it because this NEEDS to last. I have no clue what happened to my computer that made it stop working but if I can help it, I don't want it happening again. Just tell me if you find any bargains or anything like that. I still need to look on TD and those other sites, but from what I found, the price sounds right.

RAM: do yourself a favor and get 4 gigs now
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122)

Processor: costs $65 more, but well worth it for the increased performance, cooler running (because of the 45nm rather than 65nm cores), faster FSB, this months maximumpc actually compares the two side by side and the Q9300 won big.
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Yorkfield 2.5GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor - CPUs / Processors (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115043)

HDD: you can get yourself 140GB more of storage for just $10 more.
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218)

I was gonna get 4 of those 1gb mushkin sticks but I might just get those gskill ones. I'm going for that processor... and the HD is a great find.

I juve to keep this under a grand. Paying for a car costs 2000 smackers a year plus the loan I need to pay is $2000. With my graduation coming up I should make a few hundred bucks which should help.

Hey Kat,..I liked the selection that you chose. I think it a rockin' rig!

And I open myself up any suggestions that you may have in my next build. For my old faithful,( socket 478 < antique?) died on me. Had a power supply died and it took out the mobo,..just to really ruin my day. After I buried it in the back yard, next to the cat(long story),..I sat down most of the day, trying to piece together some things for my next build. It's been over 5 years sense I built a pc, just for myself. Always for someone else. And alot of things have changes sense then. Dual Core, Quad Core,...wtf? I was still waiting for Intel to put out a socket 478 5.0 cpu. But,..I had a list of things that I was going to buy, and even told Bears a few things that I was going to get. But, changed my mind.(i'm old , I can do that) So,..bare with me and a long reply here, but give me some feed back and make some suggestions, please.
