Greetings from Mississippi!
This is sort of a funny story so I thought I'd share.
We tried to leave Denver at 7:40 AM on Tuesday on Continental. Houston had cancelled a bunch of flights, and we got rebooked with Delta and a landing time in Jackson, MS of around 11:30 PM. We then got rebooked AGAIN with Northwest Airlines through Memphis and a landing time of about 3:30PM.
As we approach Memphis, the pilot comes on and tells us we are in a holding pattern. We spend 45 freaking minutes in a holding pattern. I'm thinking we were going to miss our connecting flight, but the luck of this trip got us there with 10 mintues to spare before boarding. And then we sit for a freaking HOUR waiting for someone to remove 4000 pounds of fuel. They had to do this because the plane we were on was intended to fly to Dalls/Ft Worth that morning.
So... after the hour long wait, we finally landed. So after being up since 4:00 AM mountain, we manage to get to our hotel rooms around 9:00 PM central.
The next morning, I'm woken up by the sound of someone screaming and hollaring. There was a dude outside in the hallway of the hotel who was PISSED because the hooker he hired was trying to sneak out with his money. He smacked her around a little bit, got his money back, and she bolted.
The next night I was woken up by the sound of breaking glass at around 12:30. I didn't bother checking this out...
We met a guy at our work site who was staying down the road, and he relayed the stories of drug dealers hanging out around his hotel making deals all night.
Long story short: If you go to Jackson, MS don't stay off of highway 80.
