just upgraded my service from comcast from performance plus (8Mbps down, 768kbps up) to comcast blast! (16Mbps down, 1Mbps up) this isnt even officially offered, and its not advertised in my area so anyone else with comcast may want to look into this. w00t!

w00t w00t! after being told to hold while they finalize the upgrades, i got: "Also, I did misread my information earlier, your area does get the up to 2Mbps upload speeds."

so that makes it 16Mbps down, 2Mbps up

ya, I had the same deal thru Mediacom in Iowa, and it fucked my computer bad. I now get kicked off after 30 minutes or so of gaming, and it says it cannot establish connection to my tcp/ip settings...................

creep, this thread if for REAL isp's only, n00bs with sites that look like ones i made as a freshman in highschool has no business in this thread. (http://www.mediacomcc.com/home.html)

seriously though, you have some other issues going on, if your plugged into a router, try a different one, if your directly plugged into cable modem, have it swapped out.

replaced nic card, reinstalled, wiped network stack...... crosses fingers. no router, new cables, mb, ram, cpu, power supply, 2 x 80 mm fans, 2x 40 mm fams, new modem, and new lines all the way to the house.........let's hope this fixes the problem :)

How much are you paying for it? My ISP has these two
10.0 10MB Down/1MB Up
20.0 20MB Down/2MB Up

I pay 30 a month for 10.0 and its an extra 20 a month for 20.0. Really no one will ever use all of 10Mb down cause at that point the servers you are downloading from are the restriction. I couldnt justify the extra 20 for the double speed except for bragging rights...

the servers i download from do not have that restriction as they are business oriented. I also upload a bunch to my web server so the extra upload will save me hours of uploading time. finally, i like bittorrent, which downloads from many sources. i have had my connection maxed for hours downloading from BT, again, this will save me hours. If you don't need the bandwidth, no point in upgrading. Comcast is insanely expensive, $70/month and now this $10 upgrade (again not even advertised in my area, and when i use their site to check availability, it doesn't show this package). It would be about $20 cheaper if i had their tv service as well, but i have dish....sort of. only other alternative around here is verizon for $30/month for 3Mbps down, 768kb up, which i had for over a year but they kept having to rebuild my circuit because for whatever reason it kept messing up at their CO resulting in dial-up speed service. This happened 3 times before i switched to more expensive, but faster comcast. it also took over a month each time of working with their overseas tech support, having to explain the same thing over and over, before someone would finally fix the problem. whelp, i think i just explained that in more detail than anyone wanted, time to head off to work.

makes sense. My ISP watches bit torrent and if you get caught they shut your account down after a mailed warning. Luckily they arent throttling yet though.
