Ok so i did find my cd I was bein stupid and it was sitting in the cd rack.
Halo Setup encountered a disk error while writing to the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\maps\bitmaps.map. Make sure your hard disk is not full, and that the file is not in use.
Is the error message I get when it stalls out at 66% bitmaps.map

I'm probably the last person to take computer advice from, but I would uninstall Halo completely, and start over. Halo installs pretty fast.

Yah when you cancel the install it uninstalls all of it completely, did a full search on computer and couldn't delete 2 things, because they couldn't track the source. So Ima manually go in and find em hopefully I can delete em through there.

Ok so it seems there are 2 things in my computer with halo in the name when I did a search. Went to delete and it ended up not responding for either one. : /

You may have an error on the disk IE: Small scratch. Have you tried to reinstall yet? Why are you so worried about a stray file? Do they prevent you from attempting to install? Just try to install from the disk again. If it freezes at that point again I would say the disk has an error. In that case just use the image file I posted before to install it. That image file works fine you already have a product key from the original disk so there shouldn't be a problem.

K I'll try the image file, cuz when I get to 66% it says that whatever it is trying to download is either already on there or in use. I let my friend borrow it a few weeks ago and just checked it out it has a line of scratches on it like someone used a metal comb or something :P

Vash I'll send you halo in a zip file if you end up needing to. Might also want to check microsoft support page to see about getting a replacement disk.
Also, after you uninstall halo, run a registry cleaner and then restart your computer to make sure all the temp files have been deleted. You might also want to try a system restore to the day before you tried installing it. sometimes that works when nothing else will.
