I have a chunk of BB gift cards burning a proverbial hole in my pocket. I am thinking of either taking the plunge and getting an xbox 360 arcade edition, and getting COD 4, or upgrading my pc and getting COD4.
I just upgraded my ram from 1gig to 3 gigs, and the machine is running a bit quicker. I'd like to move into COD4, people say it is awesome. Should I get a platform (ewww) or upgrade my gfx card? I'm looking at these cards. Opinions welcome, but be nice, and NO I AM NOT SHELLING OUT THE MONEY FOR AN 8800, SO IF THAT IS ALL YOU HAVE TO ADD, DON'T BOTHER. Thanks.

So who thinks I should go xbox and who thinks gfx card? also, any other gfx card you can think of that is avail at bb and around 100 bucks.
I do also need a dvd player, so the xbox could go dual duty for me.

you know, the only problem with the xbox arcade is it only has a capacity of 256 MB, much smaller than the standard 360.
you could get the card and a cheap dvd player for less than the xbox, i think, and it would help your comp with other things than just cod4. i would go with the card, and the second one looks like a better deal. that's what i can offer.

Well if your looking to get an Xbox360 arcade I'd just spend the money and get an 8800GTS for $260-280 whihc would be the same price for the 360 but better cause its a computer.

he didn't even read my whole post, did he?
the problem is i can't justify the money for the 8800, i know they are the same money, but I already have a graphics card that works, i'm just upgrading. if i get a platform, its a whole new device, that I can almost justify the money for. you are smart about this computer stuff Tembel, please advise me on the best buy for the money I have indicated. GFX card around 100 bucks, whattdya think?

Yah i read it but you didn't explain the whole justifaction of everything =P... so if you only wanna spend 100ish bucks on a VC then go with Nvidia and at least an 8000+, out of what you showed me the 8500

Yea go for the gfx card, my friend had an xbox and after about a week of play it red lighted. He had a warrenty, but it got very annoying going back to gamecrazy every time his xbox broke. ( he went a total of 5-6 times)

go for broke, upgrades and the real xbox 360
but seriously, how much would you have to spend to upgrade your comp enough to justify doing it?
xbox arcade is fun, but then you will sometime soon probably need the comp upgrade anyway.
ps. what kind of card do you currently have?

i got CoD4 as a early Christmas gift,(from myself,...:D ),..and I tell ya,..it's so totally different from CS:S. Like if crack was a good thing,...it would be CS:S, on crack! But, it would or will be even better after I upgrade to a better video card. I'm using an old school rig, that has a AGP video card. (512mb Nvidia Geforce 6200,on 2 Gigs of ramand a 3.60 cpu),not too bad, but this card came out like almost 3 years ago, and I can't seem to find a better driver for it. So, as I'm running CoD4, I'm running it on 800 X 600 resolution. But the game still looks and plays so super awsome!!(anything higher, I get lag) I'm also using a old crt monitor, but the woman has a HDLCD, on her rig, and I've been wanting to set the game up on her, just too lazy. Her's uses pci express, but doesn't have a video card, just running onboard video, with 224 mb shared video. But, I say get it for your pc, I think you may enjoy the game more than on the 360. It just a matter of preference. If the 360 came with a mouse and keyboard,..then I'd go for the 360.But, I'm a pc gamer. As for as video card,..I would suggest at least a Nvidia 6600 or Ati 9800.Get the game though, I think it's well worth the $, for it has alot of replay value.I have been playing it more than I have CS:S, and I'm in "love", w/CS:S! Anywho,..there's my thoughts.

ok, heres the dilemna I came to
I got COD4 and wanted to upgrade my comp. Either just get a new processor or get a new video card.
Well my computer was old enough that all the new video cards and processors would really be compatible. I would have to get one better but older.......which is not what i wanted to do.
So, if you have the ability to, you can try and link two video cards. This was one Idea I had, to get two $99 8600 gts and link them or get a good 8800 gt. Well we looked at all the reviews and data on it and found that the 8800 was better and later on when you want to upgrade, it will be cheaper to get a second 8800 and link those when the time came.
Upgrading the comp to a really good level cost enough now but saves money in the long run because it will be even longer before you spend more on it.
I have the new AMD phenom 9500 with a pimp ass MOBO. The 8800 gt and two gigs of dual channel ram. This all was more than I originally thought, but I wont have to touch it for a long time, and when I decide to, will not cost much if i do something small.
if you worried about the costs or doing anything, sell some of your old parts and use that to pay for the new video card.......or simply get hte xbox 360 and get rock band and all the games they got
problem with video game consols is that there are many games I love but are only sold for xbox or for the ps3. that and the cost is what keeps me from getting them. i can use my roomates and buddies like i have been
