Unused Gungame Maps

OK so theres lots of maps in the gungame rotation that just aren't used, like, ever. yea 140 or whatever maps looks good but if half of them arent used then whats the point? anybody ever consider replacing the bottom ten percent or anything? just wonderin is all

oh you opened up a can of worms here.

there are some good maps that don't play well with our server, or don't play well on a lot of peoples computers, which we were testing but never removed.

and then there is jungle and churches. god. but they draw a crowd so we keep them.

the main reason, is we have a random map vote that comes up after the first person to get a glock kill. i think by default, it's four(maps). and i think all maps are in some order. but the "problem", if it can be called that, that mainly players that come to our server ,all the time, know what maps they like and usually the majority, picks that same map(..did that make sense? i confused myself,..). but anyway,..this topic has been brought up before, but i have no real answer for you. sometimes it depends on how many players there are at the time of vote and what maps come up. a big map with only four players, doesn't make much sense, cause playtime would be tooken up just to search for the other opponet. so a small map, is ideal. on the other hand, a small map with a full server,(16), can be super crazy. alot of tk's, as an example will happen,..well that happens anyway,..but a lage map is more ideal in that situation. again, there are so many maps. but, usually it's "the people's choice" that selects the map.

then again, i could be all wrong about all of this. i tend to be wrong all the time. it comes with being an old man,..i just tend to ramble on and on,..may times with no meaning,..like i am now. i thank you for reading and if it was any help, i am glad that i was able too. i am sure the next person to post, will perhaps share their wisdom and enlighten you with their knowledge. or,..perhaps they will also add in a bit more spammage, to really confuse you and make you wonder wt heck you are even doing. like turtles. i like turtles.

As I see it now there isn't any real problem except every once in a while when you get a map selection where none of em are any good..but like chemo said some don't get played cuz they're in a selection with alot of other maps that are more popular and get selected more....or maybe I didn't understand what chemo said but thats my 2 cents :O

Well seeing that everyone always seems to pick the same similar maps when votes come up there really isn't a point for having the other maps we have, but just taking them off would be a pain.

Oh and that is one reason I've started to play a lot less source because of playing the same map over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.

kay i kinda get what you all are saying, but theres like some that never even get one vote, even when all the maps to vote on are crappy. they just on there so the new people go "hey i like that one maybe i can play there sometime?" but they never get played on anyway so may as well show them maps that might get used sometimes in the votes. i dont get how its trouble to remove maps from the lineup, dont you just take it off a list or somethin?

Its just more work for ppl to do for a vid game when it wouldn't really change that much. Just cuz you take out a couple maps that no1 plays youd just be having to replace those maps in those map votes with the maps that every1 likes, which would generate more of the same maps over and over? *drools from mouth* so much rambling....

well what im saying is that those bad maps arent being played anyway, and since theres one good map and three bad ones in the vote so often, its more of a server choise then a player choice which kinda kills the reason of voting. so it does make the same maps over and over, but people are going to choose those same maps over and over anyway it doesnt cause any actual extra repetition. im also not understanding how its a lotta work to take out a map, isnt it just a list of maps and you delete one of them and then it stops showing up or what?

i like having so many maps to choose from. People just have tp learn to try something different instead of the same ones all the time. The other day i got to play a few maps i have never played before and it was a nice change!

i like seeing the occasional new map too and all, but it never happens anyway. maybe instead of 4 maps to vote on make it 3 so more of them see play? =o.o=

Maybe some day when you grow up and are a member of the clan you can do something about it. Unless, of course, your friends with Fieldweeble, in which case most of the upper managment will bend over backwards for you and tell the rest of the clan to fuck off.
