Avatars and sigs

Look guys a long time ago I took off all restrictions on avatar, profile, and sig dimensions and file sizes. This was a gift, the ability to have slightly different sized avatars, maybe yours was gonna be shorter than normal but 10 pixels wider, that type of allowance. But some of yall have these huge ole pics or pics with lines and lines of writing under em, personally i think theyre too big, I find myself scrolling more on threads for gigantovatars and humungonatures than i do for actual text of posts.

Now maybe im off base here, but I think its a bit much, Id like to hear from some people, its a lot to load on some computers too. Im not gonna put the restrictions back on, its never been a server room problem, but imo either resize your pic or ask me to, ill be glad to make you a sig or avatar out of what you have/want.

just a question, now, the size of say, the avatars that TrueAss made some of us. That size is cool, right? I agree that adding to one's avatar,can be a bit too much. on another 'putor of mine, (750 mb processor, 32mb onboard vga-ya, it's OLD), it takes more than a few seconds to load up the forums and scroll threw the posts. but, that's not my main pc i use, but everyone has something different. just a mere suggestion, to cut the size down on avatars, is a good idea, Boss.

what causes the slower download time? height and width or the file size?

for instance. my sig pic was 499x333 but was only 38.1kb whereas chemos avatar is only 100 x 71 but is 168.3 kb.

i don't care about it to be honest and i don't want to increase the page download time but i'd like to have a pic that wasn't the size of a stamp.
i like what you did with my sig, it's a heck of a lot better! mind if i save it and use it? i could even make it smaller.

dont have to reduce it really, its smaller than mine, and like i said its nicer when its wider rather than scrolling for each quote below a pic, youre free to use it you can link it from

as for what takes long, its just plain loading, the larger a pic is the longer it takes, animated gifs load each frame one at a time, then memorize them then replay it at speed, I love the one chemo has. Wasnt saying he needed to get rid of wheelchairzilla, loved that too, just maybe crop out the surrounding neighbors lawn. Or like randys avatar, do we need to see how tall the cabinets are? or how many appliances he has to the left an right? Or is the point of the pic the sexy beast holding onto a pussy for dear life?

Im not saying they have to be a certain size, Im just asking people to be responsible in using what matter, or asking for help in cropping it.
